Pre-Arrival Guidance for International Students at the University of Cambridge

Guides for International Students

Our International Student Guide provides practical pre-arrival and orientation information to help students coming from outside the UK prepare for their move to Cambridge. It includes guidance on living in the UK, a useful glossary of Cambridge terminology and information about University support services.

Our Finding Your Way to Cambridge Guide provides an overview of how to get to Cambridge from the main London airports usually used by students when travelling to the UK.

Overseas Freshers’ Events

Some overseas Alumni Groups host Freshers’ Events, enabling new students to hear from alumni as well as current students in their country of residence about their experiences of Cambridge prior to starting their studies. These optional events are a great opportunity to meet other new students before the new academic year. Information on these events is usually available in the summer.

Student visa information

For students who require a student visa for their studies at Cambridge, the section on Responsibilities on a student visa includes information for when you first arrive in the UK and collecting your BRP after entry.
